| New $5 Bill Upgrades |
| New $5 Bill Upgrades Recently new $5 bills were put into circulation with different colors and other security features. This change requires upgrading of the bill acceptors inside entry stations so that the new bills will be recognized correctly. Upgrading the units depends on the type of entry station and bill acceptor that you have. Following is a list of the most common types of systems and bill acceptors that we service. If you wish to upgrade your current system please refer to this list for how to proceed. If your system is not listed here please call our parts or service departments for help. All acceptors have model numbers on them to help you find which one you have. Access entry stations (PDQ) There are two versions of bill acceptors in Access machines. Both are made by CashCode. · US4 BV – AMZ are older model acceptors that cannot be upgraded to accept the new $5 bills. These units need to be replaced with current versions, part number 04620004. New units are $614, and PDQ will rebate $50 with the return of the old model. Most customers are choosing to keep the old unit as a spare. · VU model acceptors can be upgraded with a new firmware stick, part number 04290080. The chip costs $50, and can be installed by our service technicians in a matter of minutes. Wash Select II, Laserlink, and Enterlink entry stations (Unitec and PDQ) - Coinco models of acceptors can be upgraded with a programming unit that our service technicians can bring to your site. Programming is quick, usually taking just a few minutes.
- Mars bill acceptors can be identified by the letters ‘MEI’ on the label, and must be sent to a factory service center for upgrading. There are several versions that require a new circuit board, but most are readily upgradeable. Our service department can arrange to have your acceptor upgraded for you, or you can have it done yourself by sending it to Edco in Sacramento. Edco can be reached at 916-454-1445.
Please note that any new acceptors that we sell will be ready to process the new bills. If you need any assistance or have questions please call our parts or service departments at 916-638-8140. |
